Before founding her eponymous label in 1993,
Kate Spade was an accessories editor at Mademoiselle magazine. A fruitless search for the perfect handbag inspired her to take the plunge and create her own – a prototype named Sam made from paper. Fast-forward nearly three decades, and the New York label still adheres to the late founder’s mood-boosting aesthetic with playful patterns and cheerful silhouettes.
